"Ant-Man" (2015) introduces Scott Lang, a former systems engineer turned petty criminal, who becomes the unlikely hero Ant-Man. The film begins with Hank Pym, a brilliant scientist and the original Ant-Man, resigning from S.H.I.E.L.D. in 1989 after discovering that they tried to replicate his shrinking technology, which he believes is too dangerous to be in anyone else's hands.

In the present day, Scott Lang is released from prison and struggles to find a job to support his daughter, Cassie. Desperate, he agrees to a heist proposed by his old cellmate, Luis. They break into a seemingly old man's house and open a safe, only to find an old suit, which Scott takes with him. When he tries on the suit, he discovers it can shrink him to the size of an ant while increasing his strength.

Frightened and amazed, Scott returns the suit but is arrested. In jail, he is visited by Hank Pym, who orchestrated the break-in to test Scott's abilities. Pym reveals that he needs Scott's help to stop his former protégé, Darren Cross, who has come close to perfecting the Yellowjacket, a militarized version of the shrinking technology. Cross intends to sell the Yellowjacket to the highest bidder, posing a significant threat.

Scott reluctantly agrees to become the new Ant-Man and undergoes rigorous training with Pym and his daughter, Hope van Dyne, who initially resents Scott but gradually warms up to him. They plan a heist to steal the Yellowjacket suit and destroy all related research. Pym reveals that his wife, Janet van Dyne, the original Wasp, was lost in the quantum realm during a mission, emphasizing the dangers of the technology.

Scott, with the help of his friends Luis, Dave, and Kurt, infiltrates Pym Technologies. They disable the building's security, and Scott fights his way to the lab, but Cross captures Hank and Hope. Scott manages to escape, and a battle ensues between him and Cross, who dons the Yellowjacket suit.

Their fight takes them through various settings, culminating in Cassie's bedroom, where Scott uses his ingenuity to defeat Cross by sabotaging his suit. To ensure Cross's defeat, Scott shrinks down to subatomic size to disrupt the Yellowjacket's internal mechanisms, causing Cross to implode. Scott nearly becomes trapped in the quantum realm but manages to reverse the process and return to the normal world, reuniting with his daughter.

In the aftermath, Scott is hailed as a hero, and Pym starts to believe that Janet might still be alive in the quantum realm. Hope is inspired by Scott's heroism, and Hank presents her with a prototype Wasp suit, hinting at her future role as the new Wasp.

In a mid-credits scene, Hank shows Hope the new suit, symbolizing their reconciliation and Hope's future as a hero. In a post-credits scene, Falcon and Captain America discover Bucky Barnes, the Winter Soldier, and discuss needing Scott's help, setting the stage for his involvement in the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe.

"Ant-Man" blends humor, heist elements, and superhero action, exploring themes of redemption, family, and the responsibility of power. It introduces a unique hero with a distinctive set of abilities and adds depth to the Marvel Cinematic Universe's roster of characters.
